Libraries are the powerhouse of knowledge which store the energy to fuel the wings of imagination and fly high in the journey of life.

The school launched the Library theme week during the Sunday assembly unveiling a wide range of age-appropriate activities for the students to inculcate wider reading habits. The library was organized with a view to creating a dynamic center for idea interaction as well as to give a great aesthetic pleasure to the young readers. The tranquil atmosphere of the library rendered a strong inspiration for the students to read and expand their knowledge. 

KG 1 and KG  

The kindergarten students were so enthralled to visit the library and shared their excitement with their peers.

The finger puppet show was played to instill a strong love for reading and writing among the tiny tots. They adored it so much that they expressed their interest to tell their own stories. The puppets not only encouraged them to take their storytelling to a new level but also to enthusiastically answer various questions during the show.

Moreover, the budding readers enjoyed colouring the booklets as well as reading the books with their favorite characters around them in the starbooks coffee corner of the library. They were amused to see their story characters on the Guess Who board and answer them. They portrayed immense interest to take a snap with their peers with the library theme photo frame.

Grade 1 - Finger puppet show

The grade 1 students were so excited to see the finger puppet show, which stimulated their imagination and creativity and helped to develop important learning skills. The show not only entertained the young learners but also motivated them to boost their confidence in reading and speaking by giving them an opportunity to participate in storytelling. Furthermore, the show was a great way to encourage the kids to improve their fine motor skills and brain-hand coordination.

Grade 2 - Origami books

The grade 2 students shared their exuberance as they created and designed mini origami books, developing their cognitive skills. The activity provided a platform for schematic learning to boost the brain health of the students, thereby improving their mental concentration.

Grade 3 – Creating a Book mark

Bookmarks are inevitable in the life of voracious readers. The grade 3 students were fascinated to make their own personalized bookmarks, choosing between different resources and designing themselves, sharing their ideas with their friends. They were enraptured to see their bookmarks, which subconsciously inspired them to develop active reading habits.

Grade 4 - Story box

The idea of creating story box ignited a vivid splash of creativity in the minds of grade 4 students, where they could hand-pick their own story and recreate it on a box. A story box is a small setting, a tiny box-sized stage with a background and objects corresponding to either a specific book or a common story. It provided an interactive learning experience for the students, where they could enhance the learning of concepts, reinforcing the relationship between words, objects and narrative ideas.

Grade 5 - Scavenger hunt.

The grade 5 students were very exhilarated to do their fun-filled task of exploration - the scavenger hunt. The goal was to make the students amazingly explore and get familiarized with the library and to know how to use its resources. The students had to hunt for the book using word recognition skills and resources such as phonics, context, pictures, word origins and word order clues.

Grade 6 - Paper bag book report

The grade 6 students got enthusiastically engaged themselves in crafting their paper bag book report. They summarized the story, analyzing the settings and characters, and moulded the brown paper bag into an attractive and persuasive short story, with a view to captivating the readers’ attention. The freedom to select the story and to design the report added to their diligence in successfully completing the activity.

Grade 7 and 8 - Literature Centre

The literature center activity for grade 7 and 8 students was aimed at fostering their ability to read between the lines and to enhance their appreciation of literature. The students enjoyed thinking critically, reflecting their ideas and discussing with the fellow readers. They also practiced different ways of collaboration to read a work of literature in order to construct a better understanding of the book. Moreover, they worked in different roles as they composed and answered questions, discovering new vocabulary and examining various literary essentials.

21st - 25th January, 2018 

The goal of the Literacy Weekwas to promote literacy andexcellent reading habits for thestudents of Good Will Children Private School. We were excitedon this important initiative.Everyone was envourged at schoolto participate in Literacy Weekand students were to connect toa book and book character.The aim was to develop a loveof reading books to build strongreading skills in our students.Each phrase participated inthe literacy week and celebrations.Various activities were conductedduring the week to hone writtenand spoken expression and fosterreading habit in our students.

Literacy week commenced on 21stof January, 2018 with an assemblylead by students. On assemblystudents shared importance ofreading with their fellows.The excitement for celebrating aliteracy week could be clearly seenin students’ eyes.

An indepth look at the life of(H.H) SHEIKH ZAYED (his biography). Activities included writingand presentations that students reflected the life of H.H Sheikh Zayed and impact on ones life.

DAY 2 MONDAY 22nd JANUARY, 2018

READ MY T-SHIRT

Students brought in books fromhome that they no longer read.On the day of the Book Swap,students were able to read a newbook of a choice of their friends.

Students brought in a plain whiteT-Shirt and inscribed their fonta reading quote at the back. Thefront said “Read my T-shirt”. Onthe same day students wore andread each other’s T-shirts duringrecess time.This was a funny reading exercise.

BOOKNIC (READING GARDEN)

A reading garden was created inground with a vairiaty of readingresources and activities topromote a culture and interestin reading.Classes came into readinggarden to enjoy reading activities.Activities planned were:storytelling, talking about a book,word games, puzzles andcrosswords.In order to create love of books inour students each classroom doorwas turned into a favorite storybook cover of that class whichreally increased excitement ofstudents for reading.

DAY 5THURSDAY 24th JANUARY, 2018

CHARACTER DAY

Students as well as teachers camein an oufit of their favoritecharacter. Students were involvedin a variety of activities dealingwith characters and charactertraits. There was a hot seat activityin classrooms where allcharacters asked and talked abouttheir personalities.

DAILY ACTIVITY

Special music was rungat any time during theday once whene verybody in schoolleft everything andread for 10 minutes.

Good Will Children Private School arranged a week-long programme to celebrate the link between nutrition, physical activity, and learning – because healthy kids are better prepared to learn. Students studying in kindergarten to senior-primary level participated in the programme.

Observed in the second week of January 2018, this special week shined a spotlight on the great efforts Good Will Children Private School is making to improve the health and wellness of its students.  Over the course of the week, the school celebrated different themes including healthy Eating & living, safety at home and school, fitness and general wellbeing.

Day 1: Healthy Eating (14^th January 2018)

 The school planned a variety of fun, interactive educational activities for the children on healthy eating day. Students in Kindergarten conducted a fruit and vegetable walk show. Grade 1 and 2 learnt about “Balanced Diet” and made a healthy food plate with the help of their class Teacher. Grade 3 set up a “Healthy Food Plate” and discussed the benefits and disadvantages of not consuming certain food items. Grade 4 & 5 participated in “Healthy Sandwich Making” competition. Students in Grade 6 participated in “Healthy vegetable and Fruit Salad making” competition.   Students in Grade 7 and 8 participated in healthy Smoothies making competitions.

Day 2: Personal Hygiene (15^th January 2018)

Students in all grades were informed about personal hygiene and a demonstration was given by the Nurse on the correct way to brush their teeth and wash their hands.

Day 3: Safety Day Activities (16th January 2018)

Students of all grades were given a training on the “Bus and Fire safety”. A “Health and safety” inspection was also carried out by the Health and safety officer.

Day 4: Physical Health Day Activities (17^th January 2018)

Students of all grades participated in fitness games and competitions including football matches.

Day 5: Plant Donation Campaign and Poster making competition (18^th January 2018)

On the final day of the week a poster competition also took place under the topic of “My vision of clean and Green UAE”.  A plant donation campaign was also a highlight of this day.

Emirates Red Cresent

The year 2017 is the "Year of Giving" in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), In cooperation with the Emirates Red Cresent donation project Good Will enrolled for the project FOR YOUR SAKE SOMALIA.

The students participated actively in the donation campaign by donating money as well as second hand clothes. Thank you student of Good Will Children all for being a part of the campaign and making it successful by showing empathy and serving the community generously.

New Year ... New Idea!

We are introducing Clubs in KG2 from Term2. The purpose of having clubs to boost children's self-confidence & self-esteem.

“We want happy, self-confident children because they are motivated and can achieve more ".

Clubs can help your child choose a fun way to learn, develop talent, skills and build confidence. Giving kids something to do that interests them can increase their confidence and gives them direction and purpose and it does not have to be sports.

We have Nobel Quran club, Rainbow colours (Art) clubs, Games club, STEM club (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and Phonics club.

Clubs will start functioning up from 18th of January, 2018 and will be once in a week on Thursday.
